This kit restores the headband portion of your MDR-XB500 headphones. This modification is applied to the standard headband, plus a cushion for enhanced comfort.
 
Kit contains:
3 Removal Strips (Helps remove the residual leather from the base fabric - required for adhesion)
1 Leather Strip (Self adhesive tape pre-applied and sized for the MDR-XB500 headband)
1 Leather Cushion Pad (with self adhesive tape)
 
Stick the supplied removal strips to the damaged area and peel away any loose leather coating from the base fabric. The new leather strip will not stick to the damaged leather coating, and not very well even on a headband in good condition. (See images for reference)
Partially peel away the liner from the new leather strip and align it to the center of the headband, and the edge where the fabric starts. (See images for reference)
Peel away the liner while carefully applying the leather strip to the top of the headband. (See images for reference)
Wrap the leather strip around the headband and press firmly to get an even, wrinkle-free bond. Some waves may appear on the underside of the band, but they will be covered later by the cushion. (See images for reference)
Apply the cushion to the underside of the headband. Press firmly, but slowly, all around to ensure good adhesion. It is important to press slowly and gently on the cushion to prevent bursting it. Air will leak out from within, and after application the cushion will return to shape. (See images for reference)
